As an entrepreneur, Reprobel writes to you annually with the request to submit the Reprobel declaration. You can submit this declaration in just a few steps and thus comply with the Reprobel obligations.
But what if Reprobel doesn't ring a bell? What should you do with this letter?
What is 'Reprobel'?
Companies must comply with numerous obligations, including copyright.
Does your company occasionally use protected works on the internet? Do you often share professional articles internally or make prints of information available on the Internet? Or are copies taken of certain texts in (law) books?
Then your business is subject to a fee, called 'copyright'. The principle is the same as taking out a Netflix subscription. In that subscription, you have to pay a certain fee that covers the copyright. Or like how you used to buy DVDs and CDs from the shop, you also had to pay a certain fee of copyright.
The remuneration that the company must pay for using copyrights is paid directly to Reprobel, which means it isn't a real taxation.
How to pay the compensation to Reprobel?
Obviously, you cannot negotiate the use of a particular source with every author or publisher.
Therefore, you need to fill in the Reprobel declaration annually.
Only when you receive a letter of declaration from Reprobel with a username and password do you have to complete a declaration.
Note that your company is obliged to complete a Reprobel declaration, even if you did not use copyright protected on the Internet. If you do not submit this declaration or submit it late, you risk a fine.
Didn't receive a letter from Reprobel? Don't panic, then you don't have to file a declaration either.
Filling in the Reprobel declaration
Even if you don't use sources that are subject to copyright, you are obliged to fill in the declaration.
If you don't use any of these resources, you fill in a zero return and no fee is due.
If you do use copyrighted sources, you can arrange these operations via a combined licence from Reprobel.
Step 1: Go to the Reprobel portal
Sign in with the username and password you were given.
Before you can start the declaration, fill in the missing data in 'my profile'.
Step 2: navigate to the declaration
Follow the various steps through the declaration.
